Question:
A questioner says: Your Eminence, Shaykh Abdul Aziz.
Peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy and blessings.
As for what comes after: I love you with an intense love, a love for the sake of Allah, for the good and virtue that you constantly provide to us at all times.
And after that: My family was small, and we lived in a small village. We were struck by hunger and drought, and my mother would take grain from her parents' house without their knowledge or awareness. She would grind it and serve it to us as food. We want Your Eminence to inform us about what the mother must do, and what the expiation is if we owe anything? Please inform us, may Allah reward you!
Answer:
As for your love for your brother in Allah, I say: May Allah love you, for you loved us for His sake. We ask Allah to make us and you among those who love each other for His Majesty. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih Muslim 2566.
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Muwatta Malik 51:14 - and he mentioned among them - .
As for what your mother did in a state of hunger and need, taking from her parents' house, there is no blame on her for that. This is because it is obligatory for her parents, her father and mother, to feed her and feed her children if they have no one to help them and no one to provide for them. It is obligatory for them to provide for them and be kind to them. Muslims are one body; it is obligatory for them to have mercy on their poor, support them, be kind to them, and meet their needs. A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim.
In the two authentic collections, it is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih al-Bukhari 6951 - meaning: he does not leave him helpless, nor does he abandon him to one who wrongs him - Sahih al-Bukhari 6951.
And Hind bint Utbah said: O Messenger of Allah! Abu Sufyan is a stingy man; he does not give me what is sufficient for me and my children except what I take from his wealth without his knowledge. Is there any sin on me for this? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih Muslim 1714a meaning: without his knowledge.
Therefore, what your mother took from her parents, from her father's and mother's house, which served to save her and her children, there is no blame in it, and she owes nothing for it as long as she is in need and there is no one to provide for her other than them.
