Ruling on performing the Fajr prayer a few minutes before the sun rises

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner from the Syrian Arab Republic, Muhammad Ali, says: Sometimes I pray the Fajr prayer five or ten minutes before the sun rises. Is my prayer acceptable in this situation?

Answer:
Yes, if you perform it before the sun rises, it is valid. However, it is not permissible for you to delay it; rather, it is obligatory for you to pray with the congregation in the mosques, the houses of Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever hears the call for prayer and and does not come (to the mosque for prayer), his prayer will not be accepted from him, unless he has a (legitimate) excuse.من سمع النداء فلم يأت؛ فلا صلاة له إلا من عذر
Bulugh al-Maram 2:308
A blind man asked him, saying: “O Messenger of Allah, I have no guide to lead me to the mosque. Do I have a dispensation to pray in my house?” He said to him (peace and blessings be upon him):
Do you hear the call to prayer?هل تسمع النداء بالصلاة؟
Sahih Muslim 653
He said: Yes. He said:
Then respond.فأجب
So he ordered this blind man to respond to the call to the mosques, and he was blind. So what about the one who can see?
It is obligatory for you to wake up before the time of prayer so that you can prepare, and pray with the congregation in the mosques of Allah. If you delay and do not attend the congregational prayer, it is obligatory for you to pray within the time, and to hasten to perform it before the sun rises, and to avoid the danger. Do not delay it until close to the sun’s rising, lest the sun rise while you are still praying. You must repent to Allah for your delay and for not praying in congregation. You must repent to Allah, feel remorse, and not return to that. You must strive against your soul with great effort until you pray with the congregation at the time of prayer: the Zuhr, ‘Asr, Maghrib, ‘Isha’, and Fajr, all of them.
The man prays with the Muslims in the mosques, and it is not permissible for him to imitate the hypocrites in performing it in the house. We ask Allah for success for everyone.

The presenter : O Allah, amen. May Allah reward you with good.
