The ruling on a man performing 'Umrah on behalf of his deceased mother

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
One of the listeners, Muhammad Husayn al-Sayyid al-Ghwayt, sent a question asking about the ruling on performing 'Umrah on behalf of a deceased mother. Is it permissible, or not? And are there any conditions for it? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
Performing 'Umrah on behalf of a mother and on behalf of a father, if they are deceased, is an act of drawing near to Allah and obedience. The same applies to Hajj on their behalf. If they did not perform Hajj or 'Umrah, it is obligatory for someone to perform Hajj on their behalf from their own wealth, if they had wealth. If they had no wealth, it is prescribed for their children to perform Hajj and 'Umrah on their behalf. This is part of dutifulness and maintaining family ties, such as performing 'Umrah on behalf of a deceased father or mother. As for a living person, it is not done, except if the person is unable, such as an old man or an old woman; in that case, there is no harm in performing Hajj on their behalf. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
