The Ruling on a Woman Performing Hajj and 'Umrah on Behalf of Her Deceased Father

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner, Umm 'Ali from 'Afiyah, sent a message containing two questions. In her first question, she asks: Is it permissible for a woman to perform Hajj or 'Umrah on behalf of her deceased father, given that she is his only child?
Answer: Yes, a woman may perform Hajj on behalf of her father, her grandfather, her mother, her grandmother, or her relatives as a voluntary act, if they are deceased or if they are elderly and unable to perform Hajj. She will be rewarded for doing so. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about this and replied that there is no harm in it,
A woman said: O Messenger of Allah! My father is an old man who cannot stay on a mount. Should I perform Hajj on his behalf? He said: Perform Hajj on behalf of your father.قالت امرأة: يا رسو ل الله! إن أبي شيخ كبير لا يثبت على الراحلة أفأحج عنه؟ قال: حجي عن أبيك
. A man said to him:
O Messenger of Allah! My father is an old man who cannot perform Hajj or make the journey. Should I perform Hajj and 'Umrah on his behalf? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Perform Hajj and 'Umrah on behalf of your father.يا رسول الله! إن أبي شيخ كبير لا يستطيع الحج ولا الظعن أفأحج عنه وأعتمر؟ فقال ﷺ: حج عن أبيك واعتمر
. And a woman asked him:
O Messenger of Allah! My mother vowed to perform Hajj but did not do so until she died. Should I perform Hajj on her behalf? He said: Perform Hajj on her behalf.يا رسول الله! إن أمي نذرت أن تحج فلم تحج حتى ماتت أفأحج عنها؟ قال: حجي عنها
.
There are many hadiths to this effect. If a woman performs Hajj on behalf of her father, her mother, her grandfather, her grandmother, or her siblings, all of that is good. Or if she pays off debts they owed, or gives charity on their behalf, or makes du'a' for them, all of this is required and is good.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good and do you good.
