The Ruling on a Fasting Person Using Perfume

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Our sister asks another question and says: Does using perfume and washing the face with soap break the fast, or not?

Answer:
Using perfume does not break the fast. If one uses agarwood oil, or rose oil on his clothes, or incense on his clothes, it does not break the fast. Perfume is desirable. Likewise, if he washes his face with soap, or with something other than soap, it does not harm him, and it does not harm the fast. However, he should not sniff the perfume, the incense, or the agarwood, because some scholars hold that it breaks the fast, as it penetrates the brain. So he should not smoke it into his nose, meaning he should not inhale it. If he places it under his clothes, or passes by it, and that is not what he intended, then it does not harm him. Likewise, other perfumes: using perfume, agarwood oil, rose oil, and the like, there is nothing wrong with it, and he is fasting. Yes.
