Defining the Face in Ablution

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A letter was sent by a listener who referred to his name by the letters (A. M. S. A) from Asyut in the Arab Republic of Egypt. He asks a question and says: Defining the face in ablution for one who has no beard and for one who has a beard, in detail, and explaining the meaning of that? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
The face is that by which one faces [others]. So one washes what is between the two ears, and from the hairline above down to the beard below; this is the face. One washes his face and the beard with it, letting the water run over it. The cheeks are what faces forward from the ears. The two ears of the head are not part of the face, but everything between them, from the hairline above to the bottom, is all part of the face, down to the beard. And if one lets the water penetrate the beard, that is better. And if he just runs the water over the whole of it, that suffices. And praise be to Allah. Yes.

The presenter: Praise be to Allah. May Allah reward you with good. And if he has no beard?

The Shaykh: In that case, he washes the place where the beard would be.

The presenter: The place where the beard would be. May Allah bless you and reward you.
