The Virtue of Listening to the Noble Qur'an

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
If I listen to the Noble Qur'an from a tape, or any radio broadcast, do I receive reward?

Answer:
Yes, if you listen to the recitation, you are rewarded. You fall under the saying of Allah the Exalted:
So when the Qur'an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention
[Al-A'raf: 204]. You are in a state of great good. The listener is a partner with the reciter in every letter, and each good deed is multiplied tenfold. We advise all our Muslim brothers to take care in listening to the Qur'an, by listening to it from the reciters and from the Qur'an radio. If they sit together and one of them recites to them, and they listen to him, benefit from it, and reflect upon it, there is great good in that. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), when he gathered with his Companions, would recite the Qur'an and teach them. When he reached a prostration verse, he would prostrate and they would prostrate with him (peace and blessings be upon him). Sometimes he would order some of the Companions to recite to him (peace and blessings be upon him). Once he ordered Abdullah ibn Mas'ud to recite, so he recited the beginning of Surat al-Nisa, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was listening to him. When he reached the saying of Allah the Exalted:
So how [will it be] when We bring from every nation a witness and we bring you, [O Muhammad] against these [people] as a witness?
[Al-Nisa: 41], he said to him: "That is enough." Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "So he turned to him, and behold, his eyes were shedding tears." He (peace and blessings be upon him) remembered this situation and wept, (peace and blessings be upon him).
The point is: gathering to recite the Qur'an, and gathering for the Qur'an, listening, reflecting, and understanding it, contains great good. Listening to it from the radio, from the Qur'an broadcast, also contains good, and many benefits. So we advise listening to the Qur'an, reflecting, contemplating, and acting upon it. We also advise reading the Qur'an frequently in your home, in the mosque, on the road, in the airplane, in the train, and in the car. Strive to read the Qur'an with reflection and understanding, as He the Exalted said:
[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded.
[Sad: 29]. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever reads the Qur'an, for him is a good deed for every letter, and the good deed is multiplied tenfold.
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) also said:
Read the Qur'an, for it will come as an intercessor for its people on the Day of Resurrection.
. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
