The Ruling on Listening to Women Reciting the Qur'an

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third and final question in the letter from the brother (N. A. G.), a Bangladeshi resident in the United Arab Emirates, asks: What is the ruling on listening to women’s recitation in the Qur’an competitions held annually in some Islamic countries? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.
Answer: I am not aware of any harm in this matter, provided that the women are separate from the men, with no free mixing of men and women at the place of broadcasting. Rather, they should be separate, with their faces veiled and hidden from the men. As for the listener, if he listens for the sake of benefit and reflection on the words of Allah, there is nothing wrong with it. However, if he takes pleasure in their voices, that is not permissible. The basis for this prohibition is if the intention is to take pleasure in their voices or to have sexual desire for their voices, then it is not allowed. But if the intention in listening is for benefit and taking pleasure in hearing the Qur’an and gaining benefit from the Qur’an, then there is no blame on him, if Allah wills. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you.
