The ruling on one who is unable to fast due to a chronic illness

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A message was sent from the Yemeni Republic by a listener from there. He says, Husayn 'Abd al-Ahmad al-Mansuri from Rada', our brother says: I have been undergoing treatment for two years since 1402, because I suffer from a chronic illness, and it is still with me to this day. When Ramadan comes, I am at a loss as to how to fast, because it is very difficult for me. Should I feed people? Or how do you guide me? May Allah reward you with good, and may Islam and the Muslims benefit from you in the east and west of the earth?

Answer:
You must make up the fasts if Allah cures you; because of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
and whoever is ill or on a journey - then an equal number of other daysوَمَنْ كَانَ مَرِيضًا أَوْ عَلَى سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَ
[al-Baqarah:185]. But if the trustworthy doctor, or more than one doctor, determines that this illness is not expected to be cured, and fasting is difficult for you; then you feed one poor person for every day, half a sa' of dates, or rice, or wheat, or other staple food of the country. You gather it and give it to some of the poor, at the beginning of the month, or at the end, or in the middle, and praise be to Allah. As long as you hope for recovery, it is obligatory for you to make up the fasts if Allah cures you.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
