Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Indeed, Allah has ninety-nine names, and no one memorizes them except that he will enter Paradiseإن لله تسعة وتسعين اسمًا، لا يحفظها أحد إلا دخل الجنة
or as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said. Does everyone who memorizes the names of Allah guarantee entry into Paradise? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
This is from the hadiths of promise, from the hadiths of virtues, like the other hadiths of virtues. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Allah has ninety-nine Names, one hundred less one. Whoever counts them will enter Paradise.إن لله تسعة وتسعين اسمًا مائة إلا واحدًا، من أحصاها؛ دخل الجنة
Sunan Ibn Majah 3860Hasan (Darussalam)
And in another wording:
he who commits them to memory would get into Paradiseمن حفظها دخل الجنة
Sahih Muslim 2677a
It is agreed upon that it is authentic. This contains an exhortation to pay attention to the names of Allah, and to reflect upon them by memorizing and counting them; so that one benefits from these great meanings, and so that this becomes one of the causes of his humility before Allah, his obedience to Him, and fulfilling His right (Glorified and Exalted is He). And it is one of the causes of entering Paradise for the one who memorizes them, fulfills the right of Allah, and does not commit major sins. As for the one who commits major sins from among the disobediences; he is exposed to the warning of Allah, and is under the will of Allah. If He wills, He will punish him, and if He wills, He will admit him into Paradise.
But memorizing these names, and counting them, is one of the causes of entering Paradise, for the one who is safe from the other obstacles. For entering Paradise has causes, and it has obstacles. So persisting in disobediences is one of the causes of being deprived of entering Paradise with the first of those who enter it, with the first entrants. He will be punished, and then after he is purified and tested, if he died upon disobediences; he will enter Paradise. And Allah may forgive him, and he will enter from the very first moment.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The five prayers, and Al-Jumuah (the Friday prayer) to Al-Jumuah are atonement for what is between them, as long as the major sins have not been committed.الصلوات الخمس، والجمعة إلى الجمعة، ورمضان إلى رمضان كفارات لما بينهن ما لم تغش الكبائر
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 214Sahih (Darussalam)
Meaning: the major sins, which are the disobediences that contain a warning, or anger, or a curse. Such as: zina, such as: drinking intoxicants, such as: undutifulness to parents, or one of them, such as: consuming riba, such as: backbiting and talebearing, and similar disobediences. These are serious; their matter is serious. And their owner, if he dies upon them, is under the will of Allah. If Allah wills, He will forgive him and admit him into Paradise by his tawhid and his Islam. And if He wills, He will punish him according to their magnitude. Then after he is purified and tested in the Fire, Allah will take him out of the Fire into Paradise.
And the hadiths have been mass-transmitted from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that many of the sinners enter the Fire with their disobediences, and are punished in it according to their disobediences. Then after purification and testing, Allah takes them out of the Fire. Some by the intercession of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), some by the intercession of others from the angels and the prophets and the righteous, and some by the mere forgiveness of Allah when they are purified; Allah forgives them; due to the saying of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He):
Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He willsإِنَّ اللَّهَ لا يَغْفِرُ أَنْ يُشْرَكَ بِهِ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَلِكَ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ
[Al-Nisa: 48]. So these disobediences are a suspended matter. If Allah wills, He will forgive them and admit them into Paradise. And if He wills, He will punish them according to their disobediences. Then they will come out of the Fire, after purification, and they will not abide in it. And they will enter Paradise after that. And no one abides in the Fire except the people of disbelief in Allah and shirk. They are the ones who abide in it; it is not forgiven for them. As for the people of disobediences, even if some of them are punished and enter the Fire, they do not abide in it, according to the people of the Sunnah and the community, contrary to the Khawarij and the Mu'tazilah, and those who follow their false methodology. For they hold that the sinners abide in the Fire, and this is a false methodology.
As for the people of the Sunnah and the community, they say: the sinners are under the will, if they die upon tawhid and Islam, and they have disobediences; they are under the will, if they have not repented. May Allah guide them all.

The presenter : O Allah, amen. May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
