Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The listener, Thabit Ahmad Rafe' from Yemen, who works in the Kingdom, sent a message containing this question: If a worshipper catches the tashahhud in the Friday prayer, is his prayer complete? In other words, did he catch the Friday prayer? Or should he intend it as Zuhr and pray it as four rak'ahs? Please issue a ruling for us, may Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
The Friday prayer is not caught except by catching one rak'ah. So whoever does not catch one rak'ah of it prays Zuhr, based on what came in the hadith from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:Bulugh al-Maram 2:366, and based on his (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: Muwatta Malik 1:15. So if his arrival at the Friday prayer is after the second bowing, such that he catches it in the final prostration or in the tashahhud, then he performs four rak'ahs, praying Zuhr and intending it as Zuhr, and the Friday prayer does not suffice for him. Yes.
