The Ruling on Returning to a Sin After Repenting from It

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
You say: I have heard that returning to a sin after repenting from it is a matter that involves some mockery of the Master , for this act is considered negligence on the part of the one who returns to the sin. What is your guidance, Your Eminence? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
This is not correct; for the human being is a place for error, a place for falling short, a place for ignorance, weakness, and forgetfulness. So if he repents with a sincere repentance, Allah turns to him in mercy. And if he is afflicted with the sin again, it is not mockery; rather, he must repent to Allah with another repentance and hasten to repent. Our Lord is generous and bountiful; He turns to him in mercy if he is sincere in his repentance, just as He turned to him in mercy regarding the first sin. And He is the One who said, Exalted is He:
But indeed, I am the Perpetual Forgiver of whoever repents and believes and does righteousness and then continues in guidance.وَإِنِّي لَغَفَّارٌ لِمَنْ تَابَ وَآمَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا ثُمَّ اهْتَدَى
[20:82]. And it is established from Allah that He says—Glorified and Exalted is He—in the case of the servant who sinned, then repented, then fell into the sin again, He says—Exalted and Majestic is He:
My servant knew that he has a Lord who forgives the sin and takes him to account for it, then He says: I testify that I have forgiven My servant.علم عبدي أن له ربًا يغفر الذنب، ويأخذ به، ثم يقول: أشهدك أني قد غفرت لعبدي
meaning: as long as he remains upon sincere repentance, yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
