Ruling on Hanging Amulets and Talismans Made from Verses and Other Things

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The listener Abdulrahman Ahmad asks and says: Hanging amulets on the body with the intention that they will benefit, is it forbidden or permissible? They are made from verses, and they have some squares on them? If they are forbidden, should I bury them, or should I burn them? Please guide us, may Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
Hanging amulets is not permissible, whether they are made from verses or from other things. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever hangs a talisman, Allah will not complete his affair, and whoever hangs a charm, Allah will not grant him peace.من تعلق تميمة؛ فلا أتم الله له، ومن تعلق ودعة؛ فلا ودع الله له
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
spells, charms and love-potions are polytheismإن الرقى والتمائم والتولة شرك
Sunan Abi Dawud 3883Sahih (Al-Albani)
.
Talismans are the amulets that are hung on people. Ruqyah refers to shirk-based ruqyah whose meanings are unknown, or which is in an unknown language, or which contains sin and blameworthy seeking of nearness to Allah. As for the lawful ruqyah that contains no blameworthy matter, there is nothing wrong with a person performing ruqyah for his brother with verses and good supplications.
As for talismans, they are amulets, and it is not permissible to hang them in any way, not on the neck, not on the arm, and not elsewhere. They must be destroyed by burning them, or by burying them in good earth if they contain verses, or by burning them. And praise be to Allah. Yes.
