Is it said that the person being spoken about, to whom the questioner says, "I love you for the sake of Allah," may develop a type of arrogance, boasting, or self-admiration in his heart?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner: Shaykh, all the focus of the answer, which is good, is on the side of the speaker. If we now reverse it to the side of the person being spoken about, that this may develop a type of arrogance or boasting, for example, or self-admiration and the like, it would be good if you would shed light on this aspect in contrast.

The Shaykh: If so, but I personally consider such a thing unlikely. However, every question has an answer. If the person to whom it is said, "I love you for the sake of Allah," is such that the speaker is of the opinion that it will be a trial for him, then it should not be said to him, especially in front of a gathering. I say "especially" because the issue, even if it were between him and him with no third party present, if the speaker is of the opinion that it will be an inducement and a cause for him to become arrogant about himself, or to be self-admiring about his knowledge, for example, or his da'wah, then it seems that from the perspective of averting harm before seeking benefit, he should not disclose it to him. But in my opinion, such a matter does not arise here when the person to whom it is said is such that the speaker is of the opinion that he is not in this state, and not in this position of having a bad opinion of him, for example. In any case, we were just mentioning His saying, (Glorified and Exalted is He), and His saying, (peace and blessings be upon him):
The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended. إنما الأعمال بالنيات ، وإنما لكلِّ امرئ ما نوى
