The Ruling on a Pilgrim Committing Some Sins

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
If a person performs Hajj while maintaining the pillars of Islam, but he commits some sins, does that affect his good deeds? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
The Hajj is valid, even if he has some sins; the Hajj is valid. However, it will not be a blessed Hajj (Mabrur) unless the person is not an open sinner. This is based on his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Whoever performs Hajj (pilgrimage) and does not have sexual relations (with his wife), nor commits sin, nor disputes unjustly (during Hajj), then he returns from Hajj as pure and free from sins as on the day on which his mother gave birth to him.من حج فلم يرفث، ولم يفسق؛ رجع كيوم ولدته أمه
Riyad as-Salihin 1274
And he said (peace and blessings be upon him):
for A1-Hajj Al-Mabrur there is no reward except Paradise.الحج المبرور ليس له جزاء إلا الجنة
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 933Sahih (Darussalam)
The blessed Hajj is the one in which there is no lewdness, which is intercourse and its incitements, and no open sinfulness in sins. So if a person commits some sins while performing Hajj, his Hajj is deficient, but it suffices to absolve him of the obligation. However, his Hajj is deficient; it is not a blessed Hajj; it is deficient. For example, if he consumes usury or interest, or if he is undutiful to his parents, or one of them, or if he severs family ties, or if he backbites people, engaging in backbiting, or something similar, or if he betrays in a transaction, or deceives in a transaction, all these are sins. His Hajj will be deficient, his religion will be deficient, and his faith will be deficient. But he does not become a disbeliever because of that, and his Hajj is not invalidated by that, as long as he is upon Islam and the oneness of Allah, and faith in Allah and His Messenger. This is the position of the people of truth, the Companions, and those after them, who are the people of the Sunnah and the community, and they are the saved sect, and they are the victorious group who stood firm upon the religion of Allah, and they made Allah one, and they were sincere to Him in their deeds. These are the people of Islam, and they are the people of faith, and they are the people of mindfulness of Allah and righteousness. So if one of them commits a sin, it becomes a deficiency in faith, a weakness in faith, but it does not take him out of the circle of Islam. His Hajj is valid, his prayer is valid, and his fasting is valid, but he sins with the sin he committed, such as backbiting, or consuming usury or interest, or deceiving in a transaction, or something similar. It becomes a deficiency in his faith, a deficiency in his fasting, and a deficiency in his Hajj. Yes.
