The ruling on a woman dyeing her hair with colors other than black

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Our sister asks: Is it permissible to dye hair with colors other than black, and also to remove excess hair from the eyebrows if its shape disfigures the face?

Answer:
Dyeing white hair is permissible; it is a recommended practice to dye white hair with red, yellow, or similar colors, or with black mixed with red. Only pure black is forbidden; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Change this gray hair, and avoid blackغيروا هذا الشيب، واجتنبوا السواد
So if a woman, or a man, changes white hair with henna and katam, it becomes between black and red, or with red, or with yellow; there is no harm in that. In fact, this is a recommended practice. As for changing hair to a color other than black for the sake of adornment and beauty, it is safer to leave it alone. We do not know of anything specific regarding it, but leaving it alone is a matter of precaution, because there is a fear that it may be a change of Allah’s creation. However, the better course is to leave it alone, and that is the safer course.
As for prohibition, prohibition does not appear in this matter, but leaving it alone is a matter of precaution. They dye their hair with something that shines, or something blue, or the like; it is better to leave it alone, except for white hair, for which it is a recommended practice to change it, but with something other than black.

The presenter : Very well, very well, may Allah reward you with good. The reality, O Shaykh, is that it has become widespread among women for a woman to dye her hair the color of her clothes?

The Shaykh : We do not know of any basis for this, and the safer course is to leave it alone; the safer course is to leave it alone, because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Leave that which makes you doubt for that which does not make you doubt.دع ما يريبك إلى ما لا يريبك
Sunan an-Nasa'i 5711Sahih (Darussalam)
So he, who saves himself from these doubtful things, saves his religion and his honorمن اتقى الشبهات؛ فقد استبرأ لدينه وعرضه
Bulugh al-Maram 16:32
.

The presenter : Allah is the One to be sought for help. May Allah reward you with good, and may He reward you.
