One Who Breaks the Fast in Ramadan Due to Illness

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
A listener, an Egyptian national residing in Iraq, says: I suffered a burn during the month of Ramadan and was unable to fast. The doctor who was overseeing my treatment was a Muslim and advised me not to fast. I did not feed the poor due to my weak financial situation. Please guide me on how to proceed. May Allah reward you with good.
Answer: If you are able to fast, you should fast and make up the missed days, and praise be to Allah. If you are not able to do so now, it is postponed until you are able, and when you are able, you fast, and praise be to Allah, and you owe nothing.
So fear Allah as much as you are ableفَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ
[Al-Taghabun:16] Allah the Exalted says:
and whoever is ill or on a journey - then an equal number of other daysوَمَنْ كَانَ مَرِيضًا أَوْ عَلَى سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَ
[Al-Baqarah:185] The burn that afflicted you is a type of illness.
However, if the doctors determine that you are unable to fast and that this illness is continuous and has become a permanent condition, with no apparent remedy in their view, then you must feed one poor person for each day you missed. This is half a sa' of dates or its equivalent, such as rice or wheat. This is sufficient if you are unable to fast, based on the doctors' report that this illness resulting from the burn is permanent, its cure is not expected, and fasting is difficult for you with it. You feed one poor person for each day from the staple food of the country, half a sa' of the staple food of the country.
As for if you are able, then you fast. If you delay fasting while you are able until the next Ramadan arrives, then you must feed in addition to fasting, as an extra obligation. You fast and feed one poor person for each day; because it is not permissible to delay fasting until the next Ramadan while you are able. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
