Ruling on breaking the fast in Ramadan due to an illness that is not expected to end

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
If a person is ill for a long time and is unable to fast in the month of Ramadan, what is the ruling for him?

Answer:
If one is ill during the time of Ramadan, he breaks his fast, and Allah has made a dispensation for himHe said:
and whoever is ill or on a journey - then an equal number of other daysوَمَنْ كَانَ مَرِيضًا أَوْ عَلَى سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَ
[al-Baqarah:185].
The dispensation for him is to break his fast, and then to make it up afterwards if Allah grants him health. He makes it up; this is what is prescribed for him. He should not burden himself with fasting if it is difficult for him, but rather he breaks his fast and makes it up afterwards, just like a traveler.
