Is a wife forbidden to her husband if he is absent for six months?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
We have heard a statement that says: If a man is absent from his wife for six months, she becomes forbidden to him. Is this correct?

Answer:
This has no basis, no. However, it is recommended for the believer not to prolong his absence. If he has a family, he should not prolong his absence, but rather maintain contact with them from time to time, such as every two or three months, or bring them to him at his place of work, out of caution regarding fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) for him and for them. It is narrated from 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that he set a limit of six months for soldiers to stay at their place of work before returning to their families, out of concern for their safety and the safety of their families. However, in these times, six months may be too long due to the prevalence of evil and fitnah, the laxity of women, the prevalence of tabarruj (a woman's display of her adornment), and the lack of faith in most of creation.
Therefore, the believer should not prolong his absence, and the period should be less than six months, such as two or three months, visiting them and returning from time to time, out of concern for their safety and the chastity of everyone. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you.
