The questioner is from Jordan. We reviewed some of her questions in a previous episode. At the beginning of this episode, she has one remaining question. She says: “Your Eminence, who are the relatives that it is obligatory for a Muslim girl to maintain ties with? And does this obligation fall off her if her male brother fulfills it alone?” Is this questioner the mother of Mustafa from Jordan?
Answer: All relatives are considered kin, but the closest are the ancestors and descendants: fathers and mothers, grandfathers and grandmothers, children and their children. These are the closest relatives. Then come the brothers, then their children (the brothers’ children), then the paternal uncles and their children, and so on, from the closest to the next closest. This is why, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked, the questioner said to him:Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 5 So maintaining ties is done for the closest, then the next closest, through wealth, through kind words, through visiting, through good manners, and through inquiring about their well-being. All of this is a type of maintaining ties. And praise be to Allah. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, Your Eminence.

Messenger of Allah, to whom should I be dutiful?' 'Your mother,' he replied. He was asked, 'Then whom?' 'Your mother,' he replied. He was asked, 'Then whom?' 'Your mother,' he replied. He was asked, 'Then whom?' He replied, 'Your father.'
