Urging the Acceptance of Truth from the Preachers

The following message was received by the program from Sudan, sent by the listener Saleh Taha Ali from al-Zarqana. Brother Saleh says in his message: We have people in Sudan who call to Islam and work to exalt the word of Allah and apply the law of Allah, but we see pictures of some of them, who are leaders of this call, without beards, meaning: they shave their beards. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the growing of the beard in several hadiths. What is your opinion, Your Eminence, regarding the violation of this order?
Answer: The one who calls to Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, and teaches the servants of Allah is not infallible. So if he calls to Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, and guides people to good, he is to be thanked and has his great reward, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih Muslim 1893a, and Allah says, Exalted is He: [Surah Fussilat: 33].
So the call to Allah, to His oneness, to obeying His commands and leaving His prohibitions, this is the path of the messengers, [Surah Yusuf: 108]. The one who calls to Allah may commit some sins; he is not infallible. So do not lose hope in him because of this sin. Listen to what he says of the truth, what Allah and His Messenger said, and benefit from it and make use of it. And call upon Allah for him to be guided to grow his beard, honor it, and let it grow long. There is no doubt that shaving the beard is forbidden and an evil, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: , and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: , and in the other wording he said: Sahih Muslim 260. All of these are authentic hadiths, some of them in the two Sahihs and some in Sahih Muslim.
So it is obligatory for every Muslim, even if he is not from the people of knowledge, to let his beard grow and to grow it, and the people of knowledge are more deserving of this, because they are the preachers and because they are the role models. So it is obligatory for them to grow it and to respect it, in obedience to Allah and His Messenger, and in accordance with the law of Allah, and so that their call is accepted, and so that people do not think ill of them. But if he falls short in this, you do not leave responding to his call in the truth, and you must accept the call in the truth, even if its owner is falling short in some matters. The one who calls to Allah is not perfect and not infallible. He may enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong, and call to Allah, and have some deficiency. So accept from him what he calls to of good and guidance, and advise him in what he falls short in, as a believer advises his brother, with gentleness and good manner. You are rewarded and he is rewarded. He is rewarded for his call and for the good he has done, and you are rewarded for the advice and guidance to good. And his falling short does not prevent you from accepting his call in good, and helping him in good. May Allah guide them all.
The presenter: O Allah, amen. May Allah reward you with good.
Answer: The one who calls to Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, and teaches the servants of Allah is not infallible. So if he calls to Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, and guides people to good, he is to be thanked and has his great reward, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
One who guides to something good has a reward similar to that of its doer.
And who is better in speech than one who invites to Allah and does righteousness and says, "Indeed, I am of the Muslims."
So the call to Allah, to His oneness, to obeying His commands and leaving His prohibitions, this is the path of the messengers,
Say, "This is my way; I invite to Allah with insight
Cut short the moustaches and let the beards grow, and differ from the polytheists.
Cut your mustaches and let your beards grow, and be unlike the polytheists
Trim closely the moustache, and grow beard, and thus act against the fire-worshippers.
