Exhortation to do good deeds and accept the truth

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : We exhort our brothers, in general, to do good deeds, leave off what is wrong, be dutiful to their parents, maintain family ties, be good neighbors, enjoin good and forbid evil, and treat creation with kindness as much as possible. For Allah is in the need of the servant as long as the servant is in the need of his brother, and Allah is in the aid of the servant as long as the servant is in the aid of his brother. So strive, my brother, to benefit your brothers as much as you can. It is important that we all avoid what occurs among people: the disagreement between students of knowledge, whether they are callers to Allah, scholars, or others; the disputes and partisanship for one over another. For this necessitates the division of the Ummah and the discord of the Ummah. And if the Ummah disputes and divides, then Allah says:
and do not dispute ولا تنازعوا
What?
[thus] lose courage and [then] your strength would depart
[Al-Anfal 8:46]
We must accept the truth from whatever source it comes. Pay attention. And we must reject falsehood from whatever source it comes. We reject falsehood and accept the truth. Listen to the saying of Allah (Mighty and Majestic):
and when they commit وإذا فعلوا
namely the polytheists
an immorality or wrong themselves
[Ali 'Imran 3:135]
And when they commit an immorality, they say, "We found our fathers doing it, and Allah has ordered us to do it."
[Al-A'raf 7:28]
So they made excuses. Now, what did they make excuses with? What did they make excuses with when they committed the indecency?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : With two things. Rest and pay attention. They made excuses with two things:
they say, "We found our fathers doing it قالوا وجدنا عليها آبائنا
[Al-A'raf 7:28]
and the second matter is
and Allah has ordered us to do it
[Al-A'raf 7:28]
their saying, "In this there is truth and falsehood."
The student: Falsehood.

The Shaykh : No, their saying, "In this there is truth and falsehood." Their saying:
we found our fathers doing it
is truth, and there is no falsehood, yes.
The student: Truth.

The Shaykh : Truth.
and Allah has ordered us to do it
[Al-A'raf 7:28]
Falsehood. Allah refuted the falsehood and was silent regarding the truth, either as an affirmation of it or an affirmation for it. So He said:
Say, "Indeed, Allah does not order immorality. قل إن الله لا يأمر بالفحشاء
[Al-A'raf 7:28]
Say, "Indeed, Allah does not order immorality. قل إن الله لا يأمر بالفحشاء
[Al-A'raf 7:28]
Thus He refuted the falsehood and was silent regarding the truth because it is truth. And a scholar from the scholars, meaning from the scholars of the Jews, came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and said: "We find in the Torah that Allah places the heavens on a finger and the earths on a finger," and he mentioned the hadith. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) laughed in affirmation of the scholar's statement and supported it with the saying of the Exalted:
They have not appraised Allah with true appraisal, while the earth entirely will be [within] His grip on the Day of Resurrection, and the heavens will be folded in His right hand
[Az-Zumar 39:67]
So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) accepted the truth from whom? From a Jew. A Jew. He accepted the truth that he brought. Indeed, the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) affirmed the truth that came from Satan. Satan is the greatest enemy. He made Abu Hurayrah, meaning the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made Abu Hurayrah the guardian of the zakat al-fitr. And on one of the nights, Satan came and took some of the food. Abu Hurayrah held onto him to bring him to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), but he complained to him, saying: "I have dependents and a need." So Abu Hurayrah had mercy on him and let him go. Then he went in the morning to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him:
What did your captive do last night? He said: "O Messenger of Allah, he claimed that he had dependents and a need, so I let him go." He said: "You lied: You lied, and he will return." Abu Hurayrah said: "I knew that he would return because of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): 'He will return.' So I waited on the second night, and he came and did as he did on the first night. Then Abu Hurayrah came to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed him of the matter, and he said: 'You lied, and he will return.'"
What did your captive do last night? The third or fourth night? I do not hear. The third or fourth? Yes, the third. So he returned on the third night and he was caught.
