The Ruling on Obeying One’s Parents in Tending Sheep During the Time of the Friday Prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
We move on to another message received by the program from Yemen, in the direction of al-Zahra. The sender of the message is the brother: Ahmad Ali Umar. He says: I am a young man studying in high school, and I have a father and a mother who own sheep. On the day off, which is Friday, I go to tend the sheep, and this is against my will. Should I refuse my father’s and mother’s order and go to the Friday prayer, or should I stay with the sheep? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
If your parents need you, and the sheep need you because there is no one else to tend them, there is no harm in helping your father and being dutiful to him, and going to tend the sheep. This serves as an excuse for you regarding the midday prayer. You should pray the midday prayer if there is no one else who can tend the sheep in your place until you can pray the Friday prayer, provided you are close to the Friday mosques.
However, if you are far away, and the sheep are far from the Friday mosques such that you cannot hear the call to prayer, then you only have to pray the midday prayer. This is part of being dutiful to your parents. But if it is easy to find someone who can tend the sheep in your place during the time of prayer, and you are close to the mosques and can hear the adhan, you should pray the Friday prayer and return to the sheep if you find someone trustworthy to tend them in your place, such as a trustworthy woman, or another person who is not obligated to pray the Friday prayer, like a sick person or the like. There is no harm in that. Or a young boy who is not obligated to pray the Friday prayer, whom you trust to tend them. There is no harm in that. It is obligatory for you to pray the Friday prayer if you are close and can hear the call to prayer. But if you are far away, you do not have to pray the Friday prayer. You pray the midday prayer, and praise be to Allah, and you are dutiful to your parents and help them. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
