Question:
We move on to another question from the author of this letter. He says: “Some of the hadiths of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) come to me, and I find that they conflict with my desires, and I feel some distress and discomfort in interpreting them, and it is in my heart, but I do not speak, nor do I write anything. Does this take me out of Islam, especially since this matter comes to me often? Also, I read some Christian books. Please advise me, for I am in great distress and severe illness. I inform you that I maintain Islam and the five daily prayers, and I love Allah and His Messenger?”
Answer:
This is among the great blessings of Allah upon you: your love for Allah and His Messenger, and your maintenance of what Allah has prescribed in Islam. This is among the blessings of Allah, and among the causes of happiness and salvation in this world and the Hereafter. So we advise you to stand firm upon the truth and to beware of what may be confusing to you; for there may be fabricated, false hadiths, and weak hadiths that cause you doubt and distress, which are not established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). As for what Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) said, or what is established from His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), it contains goodness and righteousness, and it contains guidance and right direction, and it contains great goodness for one who reflects upon it, knows its meaning, and accepts it with a broad chest. For Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) does not command except good, and does not call except to good, and in His obedience is all happiness. And so is His Messenger (may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him) when he calls to good and commands good (may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him). So obedience and happiness lie in following the Shari'ah of Allah, in holding fast to the religion of Allah, and in standing by the limits of Allah, while destruction and misery lie in opposing that.
If something in that is unclear to you, ask the people of knowledge from among the people of the Sunnah and the community, those who have insight, about what is unclear to you. If you have knowledge of the terminology of the scholars regarding the identification of authentic and weak hadith, then review the statements of the scholars, and know the grade of the hadith, its authenticity or weakness, or whether it is fabricated, so that you may be on clear ground and so that the difficulty in your heart may be removed. Indeed, everything that is from the Shari'ah contains, with the praise of Allah, nothing but good, guidance, and righteousness. And Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) has made clear to His servants what is in their good, righteousness, and happiness in this world and the Hereafter, and He is more merciful to them than their mothers , and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) likewise guided them to the means of salvation and called them to the means of good.
So you should be reassured that everything Allah has prescribed, and everything established from Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), is truth, guidance, and righteousness. And whatever is difficult for you and causes your chest to feel tight, do not rush until you know the reality of the matter, and until you ask the people of knowledge about what is difficult for you. Perhaps you understood from the text something that is not the meaning of the text, or perhaps you thought it was authentic, when it is not authentic, but rather it is from the fabricated or weak hadiths. So it is obligatory to verify matters [Al-Talaq: 2].
And He, the Exalted, says: [Al-Talaq: 4] And He, the Exalted and Majestic, says: [Al-Anfal: 29] meaning: light, insight, and guidance. Yes.
The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
