Advice for one afflicted with intrusive thoughts regarding divorce, zihar, ablution, and prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A brother of ours from Qatar sent a message containing a set of questions. He says (A. S. B.) from Doha, Qatar. Our brother says: He is plagued by many anxieties, intrusive thoughts, or doubts concerning matters of divorce, zihar, ablution, and prayer, and he asks the Shaykh to please guide him?

Answer:
There is no doubt that this is from Shaytan; for Allah, Exalted and Majestic is He, says:
And if there comes to you from Satan an evil suggestion, then seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.وَإِمَّا يَنْزَغَنَّكَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ نَزْغٌ فَاسْتَعِذْ بِاللَّهِ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ
[Surat al-Fussilat: 36], and He says, Glorified is He:
Indeed, Satan is an enemy to you; so take him as an enemy. He only invites his party to be among the companions of the Blaze.
[Surat Fatir: 6], and He says, Glorified is He:
(1) Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, (2) The Sovereign of mankind. (3) The God of mankind, (4) From the evil of the retreating whisperer - (5) Who whispers [evil] into the breasts of mankind - (6) From among the jinn and mankind."
[Surat al-Nas: 1-6].
It is obligatory for you to fight these intrusive thoughts in all circumstances, in ablution, in the full ritual bath, in transactions, and in everything. You must fight them; for they are from your enemy, the enemy of Allah. It is obligatory for you to fight them, to seek refuge in Allah from Shaytan, to increase in the remembrance of Allah, Glorified is He, and to proceed with your work, and not to pay attention to these intrusive thoughts.
So when you perform ablution, know that you have performed ablution and are finished, and likewise when you perform the full ritual bath, know that you have performed the full ritual bath, so do not repeat either the ablution or the full ritual bath. And so in your prayer, and so in all circumstances, know that you did what you did, and that all these intrusive thoughts that occur are from Shaytan, so cast them aside and do not pay attention to them.
This is what is obligatory for you, so that you may subdue the enemy of Allah, and so that you may find relief from his intrusive thoughts in the future; for if he sees softness in you in accepting the intrusive thoughts, he will hope for you and increase them upon you, and if he sees strength and fighting against him, he will despair of you and move away.
Likewise, it is obligatory for you to seek refuge in Allah from his evil, even if it is during prayer. If these whispers occur to you in prayer and they keep coming, spit to your left three times and say: (I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan) three times. By doing this, you will be safe from the enemy of Allah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) guided some of the Companions to this; for Uthman ibn Abi al-As said:
O Messenger of Allah! Shaytan has confused my prayer for me? So he said to him: Spit to your left three times, and seek refuge in Allah from Shaytan three timesيا رسول الله! إن الشيطان لبس علي صلاتي؟ فقال له: انفث عن يسارك ثلاث مرات، وتعوذ بالله من الشيطان ثلاثًا
He did that, and Allah cured him of these whispers. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah bless you.
