The Ruling on Forgetting the Qur'an

Question:
The last question we are presenting to our sisters in this session says: In the schools, we are required in the Islamic education subject to memorize some verses from the Noble Qur'an. We memorize them, but after the end of the school year, we forget those verses. Is there a sin upon us for that? We ask for guidance.
Answer:
We hope that there is no sin in that, but if memorization and care are facilitated, that is what should be done. Since Allah has granted the ability to memorize, one should strive for this, adhere to it, remain steadfast in it, and review it so that these verses remain. As for the one who forgets them, there is no blame on him—if Allah wills—because a human being is subject to forgetting.
As for what is reported in some hadiths: It is a weak hadith. Forgetting is part of human nature. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih al-Bukhari 401 He said—(peace and blessings be upon him)—that a human being is a mortal, but he is protected (peace and blessings be upon him) in what he conveys from Allah. He is protected in that he does not convey from Allah except the truth and the correct, and that he does not forget anything that Allah commanded him to convey. However, he may forget in prayer and be reminded, just as the rest of humanity is reminded. This is a reality. So if he forgets, he is not left in error; rather, he is reminded and becomes aware—(peace and blessings be upon him)—or someone else reminds him and he remembers. Yes.

That whoever memorizes the Qur'an, then forgets it, will meet Allah while being a stump
أن من حفظ القرآن، ثم نسيه لقي الله وهو أجذمbut I am a human being like you and liable to forget like you. So if I forget remind me
إنما أنا بشر مثلكم، وأنسى كما تنسون، فإذا نسيت فذكروني
