Explanation of when the qunut is prescribed and its wording

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
In what situations is the qunut supplication permissible? What is its wording? And is it permissible to add to it?
Answer:
The qunut supplication is prescribed in the witr every night. Its explanation came in the hadith of al-Hasan ibn 'Ali, which is:
"O Allah, guide me among those Thou hast guided, grant me security among those Thou hast granted security, take me into Thy charge among those Thou hast taken into Thy charge, bless me in what Thou hast given, guard me from the evil of what Thou hast decreed, for Thou dost decree, and nothing is decreed for Thee. He whom Thou befriendest is not humbled. Blessed and Exalted art Thou, our Lord."
Sunan Abi Dawud 1425Sahih (Al-Albani)
Allahumma, inni a'udhu biridaka min sakhatikاللهم إني أعوذ برضاك من سخطك ..
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1100Sahih (Darussalam)
... In another hadith, the hadith of 'Ali, there is an addition:
I seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your anger, in Your forgiveness from Your punishment, and I seek refuge in You from You. I cannot praise You enough, You are as You have praised yourself.اللهم إني أعوذ برضاك من سخطك وبعفوك من عقوبتك، وأعوذ بك منك لا أحصي ثناءً عليك أنت كما أثنيت على نفسك
Sunan an-Nasa'i 169Sahih (Darussalam)
.
And if one adds to the supplication, there is nothing wrong with it. If he supplicates with good supplications, the addition is all good. This is the qunut of the witr, called the qunut of the witr, in the final single rak'ah with which he prays the witr. After he raises his head from the bowing, he raises his hands and recites this qunut, and he supplicates with whatever supplication Allah has made pleasing for him.
The qunut is also prescribed in times of calamity. If a calamity befalls the Muslims, whether the enemy transgresses against them or they face hardships, they supplicate to Allah to relieve and remove it in all the prayers, in the Zuhr, 'Asr, Maghrib, 'Isha', and Fajr, or in some of them.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) usually, when a matter befall him, would recite the qunut in the Fajr prayer. Sometimes he would recite it in both the Fajr and Maghrib prayers. Sometimes he would recite it in all five prayers. He used to recite the qunut in Madinah, supplicating against the disbelievers of Quraysh because they had expelled him and harmed him, and supplicating for the oppressed Muslims in Makkah ... that Allah would deliver them from the evil of their enemy and save them. And when some Bedouins transgressed against a group of his Companions, he recited the qunut supplicating against them for a month—(peace and blessings be upon him)—yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good. So, is adding to the transmitted supplication for the qunut permissible?

The Shaykh : There is no blame ... yes, 'Umar used to add to it, yes.

The presenter : May Allah bless you, may Allah reward you with good.
