Rulings on the Rawatib, Voluntary Prayers, and Witr

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Following this, a message was received by the program from Buraydah, sent by one of the brother listeners, a subject of the sister state of Pakistan. I understood part of his name to be Farid, but I could not read the other name. He wrote the message in his broken Arabic dialect. I understood the following from his message:
I pray two rak'ahs of the Sunnah before the obligatory prayer, then I pray four rak'ahs of the obligatory prayer, then I pray two rak'ahs of the Sunnah, then I pray a voluntary prayer, and after that I pray three rak'ahs of Witr. Is what I am doing correct? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
Yes, it is the Sunnah for the believer to pray two rak'ahs between the Adhan and the Iqamah, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Between each two Adhans [1] there is a prayer, between each two Adhans there is a prayer, between each two Adhans there is a prayer, for whoever wants to do it.بين كل أذانين صلاة، بين كل أذانين صلاة، بين كل أذانين صلاة لمن شاء
Sunan an-Nasa'i 681Sahih (Darussalam)
. So the two rak'ahs after the Adhan are recommended after the Adhan of Maghrib and after the Adhan of Isha. When he prays the obligatory prayer, he prays two rak'ahs of the Rawatib after it. Then he prays Witr if he wishes to pray three, five, or more. If he delays Witr to the end of the night, that is better, provided he is confident that he will rise in the last part of the night and it is his strong belief that he will do so. Otherwise, the Sunnah is to pray Witr in the first part of the night with one rak'ah, three, or more, taking the precaution, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
If anyone is afraid that he may not get up in the latter part of the night, he should observe Witr in the first part of it; and if anyone is eager to get up in the last part of it, he should observe Witr at the end of the night, for prayer at the end of the night is witnessed (by the angels) and that is preferable.من خاف أن لا يقوم من آخر الليل فليوتر أوله، ومن طمع أن يقوم آخر الليل فليوتر آخر الليل، فإن صلاة آخر الليل مشهودة وذلك أفضل
Sahih Muslim 755a
.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray Witr in the first part of the night, then he would pray Witr in the middle of the night, and then his Witr settled in the last part of the night (peace and blessings be upon him). This is the best for whoever is able to do so. As for the one who fears that he will not be able to rise, let him pray Witr in the first part of the night.
As for Dhuhr, he prays four before it; the Sunnah is four Rawatib, praying four with two Taslims before it. Asr is likewise; it is recommended to pray four with two Taslims before it, and four with two Taslims after Dhuhr. The Rawatib after Dhuhr is two rak'ahs, but if he prays four after it, that is better, based on what the people of the Sunan narrated from Umm Habib (may Allah be pleased with her) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Whoever prays regularly four Rak'at before and four Rak'at after the Zuhr prayer, Allah will forbid for him (from entering) the Hellfire.من حافظ على أربع قبل الظهر، وأربع بعدها حرمه الله على النار
Bulugh al-Maram 2:262
. This great hadith... is authentic and indicates the virtue of the four before and after it.
As for the Rawatib, it is four before Dhuhr and two after it, but it is recommended to add two after it so that it becomes four after Dhuhr, and four with two Taslims before Asr.
As for Maghrib and Isha, it is recommended to pray two rak'ahs before them due to the generality of the hadith:
Between the two adhans there is a prayer, between the two adhans there is prayerبين كل أذانين صلاة، بين كل أذانين صلاة ..
Sunan Abi Dawud 1283Sahih (Al-Albani)
. If he prays more than two rak'ahs, there is no harm. After them, the Rawatib is two rak'ahs: two rak'ahs with one Taslim after Maghrib, and two rak'ahs with one Taslim after Isha. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to be consistent in praying them. Then Witr is after Isha and after the Rawatib. Even if he prays Isha combined with Maghrib as a single unit, combining them by bringing Isha forward like a traveler, he prays Witr after the prayer of Isha, even if it is in the time of Maghrib; because if he prays Isha combined with Maghrib by bringing it forward, the time for Witr has entered, just as for the sick person and the traveler. Yes.
