The Ruling on the Dhikr for Waking Up from Sleep, Some of Its Formulations, and the Time for Performing It

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
One of the sisters from the countryside sent a message asking and saying: When I wake up, I recite some of the adhkar from the supplications for waking up, but I do not complete them all because of household chores, such as tidying the house and the like. Then I remember them and complete them. The question is: Is it obligatory for me to recite them all immediately upon waking up, or what? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
The adhkar and supplications upon waking up are recommended (mustahabb), not obligatory. The best is to say upon waking up: There is no god but Allah alone, having no partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise. He gives life and He causes death, and He is Ever-Living and does not die. In His hand is all good, and He is over all things competent. Glory be to Allah, praise be to Allah, there is no god but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest. There is no power and no strength except with Allah.
And if he wakes up from his sleep at night: Praise be to Allah who gave me life after He caused me to die, and to Him is the resurrection.
All of this is recommended (mustahabb) and is among the means of forgiveness and deliverance from the Fire, and among the means of the acceptance of supplication. And if one adds ... what has been transmitted, it is all good. And he should recite the end of Surat al-Imran if it is facilitated. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite it:
Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day are signs for those of understanding.إِنَّ فِي خَلْقِ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَاخْتِلافِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ لَآيَاتٍ لِأُولِي الأَلْبَابِ
[Al-Imran:190] to the end of the surah. Ten verses; if it is facilitated to recite them, that is better, and it is not obligatory. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
