The Obligation of Taking Care to Wake Up for the Fajr Prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
If a person sleeps through the Fajr prayer, does Allah grant him the reward of the remaining prayers of the day, or not? And if he makes it up after waking from his sleep, is it accepted from him?

Answer:
It is established from the Messenger, (peace and blessings be upon him), that he said:
Whoever sleeps through a prayer or forgets it, let him pray it when he remembers it; there is no expiation for it except that.من نام عن الصلاة أو نسيها فليصلها إذا ذكرها، لا كفارة لها إلا ذلك
, and this encompasses the Fajr prayer and the others.
As for the prayers that follow, if he is consistent with them and performs them in their time, his sleeping through the prayer before them does not harm him, and his reward is complete according to his work and his effort in his prayer.
However, he must not be lax in this matter, and it is obligatory for him to entrust someone to wake him so that he rises to pray in its time, or to place an alarm clock by his head to wake him at prayer time, so that he is neither negligent nor lax. If sleep overcomes him despite his taking the necessary measures, he owes nothing, and he must hasten to pray as soon as he wakes up.
