The ruling on one who eats or drinks while fasting, forgetting

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
We return at the beginning of this episode to a message sent to the program from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, sent by one of the female listeners from there. The sender, Manal Abdullah, our sister, says: We presented her with a case in a previous episode, and in this episode she has some remaining cases. She asks about one of them, saying: If a person eats or drinks while fasting a voluntary fast, or a supererogatory fast, forgetting, does this invalidate the fast, or how is the matter? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send prayers and peace upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance. As for what follows:
If a fasting person eats while forgetting, his fast is valid, whether it is an obligatory fast or a voluntary one, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
If anyone forgets that he is fasting and eats or drinks he should complete his fast, for it is only Allah Who has fed him and given him drink.من نسي وهو صائم فأكل أو شرب فليتم صومه؛ فإنما أطعمه الله وسقاه
Sahih Muslim 1155
, which is agreed upon as authentic. This is from the facilitation and blessing of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). The fasting person is a human being, and forgetfulness may befall him. So if he eats while forgetting, or drinks while forgetting, his fast is valid, whether it is an obligatory fast or a voluntary one. And praise be to Allah. He must complete his fast. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
