Paying off a debt with forbidden money

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
After this, we move to the Holy City via a message sent by one of the female listeners, Umm 'Atiqah. Our sister says: I lent a person a sum of money, and after a period of time, without any pressure or tightening from my side, he went and schemed to obtain money, and gave it to me to settle his debt. Is it permissible for me to accept it? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
If you know that this money is stolen or usurped, do not accept it. But if you do not know, there is no blame on you; the sin is on him. However, if you know, do not assist him in falsehood. If one knows that the money the person brought is forbidden, whether it is plunder, theft, or from a transaction involving usury or interest, he does not accept it. He advises the person, admonishes him, reminds him, and warns him. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good. If he asked the people until they gave to him, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh : If he asked the people and they gave to him, there is nothing wrong with it. If he was truthful, there is no blame on him. If he was lying, the sin is on him.

The presenter : Is he in debt because he is in debt?

The Shaykh : This is an excuse.

The presenter : Is this an excuse?

The Shaykh : It is a legal excuse. A debtor who cannot find the means to repay asks. Yes.

The presenter : Yes, Allah is the Helper. May Allah reward you with good. It seems to me that Your Eminence is saying: If this money was obtained by this debtor through asking people, then it is not through deception?

The Shaykh : ... There is nothing wrong if it is out of need. If he is a debtor and asked the people, there is nothing wrong if he took it from the people and settled his debt.
The point is that a debtor who is in need and unable to pay is allowed to ask. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
begging is not permissible but for one of the three (classes) of persons: one who has incurred debt, for him begging is permissible till he pays that off, after which he must stop itإن المسألة لا تحل إلا لأحد ثلاثة: رجل تحمل حمالة؛ فحلت له المسألة حتى يصيبها، ثم يمسك
Sahih Muslim 1044
This is generally one of them. Yes.

The presenter : Allah is the One to be sought for help. May Allah reward you with good.
