Ruling on shortening the prayer for one who resides in Makkah
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
We are staying in an apartment in al-Aziziyah, and we shorten the Zuhr and 'Asr prayers. Mina is close to us, and we are from Riyadh and Jeddah. Does a resident of Makkah shorten the prayer in Makkah during the days of Tashreeq after performing the rites?
Answer:
Yes, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) granted the people of Makkah the dispensation to shorten the prayer along with the others, and he did not single them out for anything. They prayed with him in Mina and 'Arafah, shortening and combining the prayers in 'Arafah and Muzdalifah, and shortening in Mina, and praise be to Allah. So, whoever among them performs Hajj prays with the people, while the non-pilgrim prays four rak'ahs. May Allah guide them all.
