Ruling on marrying the sister of one's brother through breastfeeding

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Your Eminence! We received this message from the questioner, Mufarraj Sa'id al-Qahtani, from Riyadh. He says: I am a young man who has a problem. My older brother was breastfed by my paternal aunt, my father's sister. Her son was breastfed along with my brother, who is older than me. Then a daughter was born to my aunt, and I wanted to marry her, but I am hesitant because of the issue of breastfeeding. I hope you will inform me whether it is permissible for me to marry this girl or not?
The Shaykh: Repeat the question.
The presenter: He says: My older brother was breastfed by my paternal aunt, my father's sister. Her son was breastfed along with my brother, who is older than me. Then a daughter was born to my aunt—meaning from my aunt—and I wanted to marry her, but I am hesitant because of the issue of breastfeeding. I hope you will inform me whether it is permissible for me to marry this girl or not, knowing that I myself was not breastfed; rather, it was my older brother and her older brother from her. May Allah preserve you and care for you?
Answer: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance. As for what follows:
This breastfeeding mentioned by the questioner does not prevent him from marrying his aunt's daughter. The fact that her brother was breastfed by his mother, and the fact that his brother was breastfed by her mother, does not prevent him from marrying her, as long as he... as long as the questioner was not breastfed by her mother, and she was not breastfed by his mother, nor by his sisters, nor by his father's wife. Therefore, there is no breastfeeding between them that would prohibit her. The result is that there is nothing wrong with his marrying her; because the breastfeeding of his brother by her mother does not make her forbidden to him, and likewise, the breastfeeding of her brother by his mother does not make her forbidden to him; because she herself was not breastfed by the suitor's mother, and he was not breastfed by her mother. So there is no blame in that. Yes.
