The Shaykh mentioned two hadiths indicating the permissibility of a menstruating woman reading the Qur'an and entering the mosque

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh: And so two hadiths came that confirm this aspect. The first hadith: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the Farewell Pilgrimage, which was the only pilgrimage he performed, and his Companions performed it with him, approximately one hundred thousand pilgrims were with him (peace be upon him), and his nine wives performed it with him. Naturally, as you know, the pilgrimage at that time was on mounts, specifically on camels. They traveled stage by stage, station by station. They approached Makkah and stopped at a place called Sarif. They set up the tents, and the men and women stayed in these tents. The Messenger (peace be upon him) was naturally checking on his Ummah in every place. He entered upon A'ishah and found her crying: ما لك تبكين ؟ أنفست ؟ What is the matter, why are you crying? Have you started menstruating? ; meaning, you have started menstruating. She said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah. This is a thing which Allah has ordained for the daughters of Adam. So do what all the pilgrims doSahih al-Bukhari 294 . Here is the point, Do what the pilgrim does, except do not circumambulate and do not pray , now we ask you, what does the pilgrim do? Does he not read the Qur'an?

The questioner: He reads.

The Shaykh: He reads the Qur'an. Okay, does he circumambulate the House? He circumambulates the House. Does he pray? He prays. Does he remember Allah? The Messenger prohibited her from only two things: prayer and circumambulation.

The questioner : ... .

Do what the pilgrim doesSunan al-Bayhaqi 4:704 , Do what the pilgrim does, except do not circumambulate and do not pray . This hadith solves problems for people who are heedless and ignorant of the rulings of the Shari'ah. A man may have his wife with him, and her monthly period comes upon her against her will. Where does he want to leave her? He tells her: Sit in that corner of the mosque. This is not permissible, this is forbidden. It is not permissible for a menstruating woman to enter the mosque. Where did this ruling come from? The Messenger is saying to the menstruating woman Do what the pilgrim does, except do not circumambulateSunan al-Bayhaqi 4:704 , which means this: enter the mosque, but do not pray and do not circumambulate; so a very big problem is resolved by this hadith, and it is in "Sahih al-Bukhari," in the most authentic book after the Qur'an, in "Sahih al-Bukhari." So this hadith indicated to us that a menstruating woman is not prevented from reading the Qur'an; she is prevented from prayer, and if she is a pilgrim or performing 'Umrah, she is prevented from circumambulation. Another hadith in "Sahih Muslim," he (peace be upon him) said: يا عائشة ، ناوليني الخمرة من المسجد The Messenger of Allah said to me: 'Get me a mat from the mosque.'Sunan Ibn Majah 632 , Get me a mat from the mosque.Sunan Ibn Majah 632 . The khamrah is a carpet on which one prays, what they call today the prayer mat, the prayer mat. "She said: O Messenger of Allah, I am menstruating," "I am menstruating." He was in the mosque, she was in the chamber. O Aisha, pass me the prayer mat. ; meaning from the chamber. "She said: O Messenger of Allah, I am menstruating." First, how do I enter the mosque? And how do I touch the mat? So he answered her with an answer that enters the mind completely: إنَّ حيضَتَك ليست في يدك Your menstruation is not in your hand.Sunan Abi Dawud 261 . Hayd is the blood, meaning the blood of menstruation. He said to her: What prevents you from first taking the mat? And second, handing it to me while I am in the mosque? Your menstruation is not in your hand.Sunan Abi Dawud 261 , if the hayd is not in the hand, is it in the leg? The answer is: No; so what prevents her from entering the mosque? Nothing in the Book or in the Sunnah prevents a woman from entering the mosque, prevents a woman from reading the Qur'an, prevents a woman from touching the Qur'an. Nothing of this ever, but rather there are opinions, without doubt, of scholars who, through their independent legal reasoning, went to the prohibition of these things. But the Sunnah of Allah is more merciful to us than everyone who came after the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). And it is right for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to be described with what no one before him, let alone after him, was described with بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَءُوفٌ رَحِيمٌ to the believers is kind and merciful.[At-Tawbah 9:128] . So he came with such rulings to make things easy for people, but he told them: there is better and there is permissible. So people and their energy, the one who wants the better comes with the better, the one who wants to take the dispensation comes with the dispensation. And on this we say: the menstruating woman and the one in a state of major ritual impurity, both are permitted to touch the Qur'an and read the Qur'an. But the woman is not able to purify herself, so we do not tell her to purify herself. As for the one in a state of major ritual impurity, he is able to purify himself, so we tell him to purify himself, not only to touch the Qur'an, but even to read the Qur'an from his mind, from his memory. This is what we believe and we testify to Allah with it. OAbu Layla .
Abu Layla : Yes, my Shaykh.

The Shaykh: We want the tapes, if they are known to you.
Abu Layla: Yes.

The Shaykh: The ones containing the same topic we discussed regarding practical disbelief and creedal disbelief.
Abu Layla : Yes, my Shaykh.

The Shaykh: I think you have tapes of it.
Abu Layla: The last tapes, our Shaykh, about declaring someone a disbeliever.

The Shaykh : May Allah guide you, May Allah guide you.
Abu Layla: Amen.

The Shaykh: What am I saying? We want the tapes that contain the topic we touched upon recently. I told you, it is the same tape.
Abu Layla : Yes, my Shaykh.

The Shaykh: Are there tapes? You mention them or not?
Abu Layla: Others, our Shaykh.

The Shaykh: Tapes, my brother, tapes. You have tapes of our sessions on this topic, repeated over and over, and as our old friend says, every session has a benefit.
Abu Layla : Yes, yes, my Shaykh.

The Shaykh: So these tapes are with you?
Abu Layla: Of course, they are there.

The Shaykh: Okay, so gather them for me and make copies of them for me.

The questioner : If Allah wills.

The Shaykh : If Allah wills.
