Entering the mosque for a menstruating woman

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 17791 )
Q: Is it permissible for a menstruating woman to enter the mosque for the purpose of studying, whether she is a teacher or a student? I do not mean by this entering the known prayer hall, but rather other wings that are used as departments for teaching boys and girls. However, at times the dedicated prayer hall does not accommodate the number of worshippers, especially for the Friday prayer and the two festivals, so those halls and departments are used for prayer due to the large number of worshippers. These teachers and students sometimes pass through those halls or sit in them to perform their academic duties, teaching Islamic subjects. We ask you to provide a written answer, may Allah preserve you and protect you.
A: It is not permissible for a menstruating woman or a woman in a state of major ritual impurity to sit in the mosque or in the wings attached to it, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
I do not make the mosque lawful for a menstruating woman and for a person who is sexually defiled.إني لا أحل المسجد لحائض ولا جنب
Sunan Abi Dawud 232Da'if (Al-Albani)
, narrated by Abu Dawud and authenticated by Ibn Khuzaymah, but it is permissible for a menstruating woman to pass through the mosque to retrieve a need from it; based on the saying of Allah the Exalted:
except those passing through [a place of prayer]إِلا عَابِرِي سَبِيلٍ
[An-Nisa 4:43]
, and because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)
The Messenger of Allah said to me: 'Get me a mat from the mosque.'قال لعائشة: ناوليني الخمرة من المسجد
Sunan Ibn Majah 632Sahih (Darussalam)
while she was menstruating. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
