Hajj on behalf of another for one who has not performed Hajj for himself

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
This message is from Salman al-Tawi al-'Anazi. He also asks about Hajj, saying: I have a wife who has passed away and did not fulfill the obligation of Hajj. I want to perform Hajj on her behalf to fulfill it, but I have not yet fulfilled the obligation of Hajj for myself. I do not know if it is permissible for me to appoint someone to perform Hajj on her behalf? And is it permissible for me to appoint someone to perform Hajj on my behalf? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.
Answer: As for the deceased woman, may Allah reward her with good. If she appoints a trustworthy and good person to perform Hajj on her behalf, that is fine. If she delays it until she performs Hajj for herself and then performs Hajj on her behalf, there is no harm. First, she should perform Hajj for herself, starting with herself first; this is the obligatory thing. Then she can perform Hajj on her behalf if she wishes after that. If she wishes to hasten her Hajj, she can give some money to a trustworthy person to perform Hajj on her behalf, and there is no harm. All of this is good.
