The ruling on persisting in the supplication of qunut in the witr prayer
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
This is a message we received from Muhammad Saleh Muhammad from Dammam. He says: What is the ruling on reciting the supplication of qunut every night after the witr prayer?
Answer: There is no harm in that. The supplication of qunut is a recommended practice (sunnah). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform qunut, and he taught al-Hasan the words of qunut for the witr prayer, so it is a recommended practice (sunnah). If you recite it every night, there is nothing wrong with it. And if you leave it out sometimes so that people know it is not obligatory, that is also fine. If the imam leaves out the qunut sometimes so that the congregation knows it is not obligatory, that is fine. And if he continues with it, that is fine. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught al-Hasan the qunut, he did not tell him to leave it out on some days, which indicates that there is no harm in continuing with it. Yes.
The presenter: Thank you, may Allah reward you.
