The obligation of the son if the mother claims to have breastfed his wife

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
A message reached us from Jizan, sent by one of the brothers from there, saying: (A. N. H) King Fahd Hospital. I married my maternal uncle’s daughter about six years ago, and I was blessed with three children from her. Recently, I was surprised to find my mother saying: “I suspect that I breastfed your wife, my son.” To verify this, I asked her parents about the girl, but they said: “We never saw her at all breastfeeding our daughter.” The question is: What is the ruling on my continuing with my wife given this doubt? And what is the ruling if my mother says: “She breastfed my wife, but she did not know the number of breastfeedings?” Then what is the ruling if the breastfeeding and the number of breastfeedings are confirmed later? Please inform us about this, and to you my greetings?
Answer: First, the doubt does not affect your marriage, and there is no harm in you enjoying your wife as long as the mother does not have a firm grasp of the breastfeeding, and does not know the number of breastfeedings, and it is only a doubt. So, the doubt does not make the lawful forbidden. Rather, you must remain with your wife and continue in your relationship with her, and this doubt from the mother does not harm you.
As for if the mother is certain that she breastfed her five times within the two years, or more than that, then the matter is looked into. If the mother is suspected of hating her and wanting you to separate from her, and there are signs indicating that she wants that, then her testimony is not accepted and it is not acted upon, and your wife remains with you.
As for if the mother is trustworthy and you are reassured by her statement, and there is nothing between her and your wife that causes suspicion, then you act according to her statement, and you separate from the woman when your mother is certain that she breastfed her five times within the two years, or more than five, and she is trustworthy and known to you to be truthful, and that she is not suspected of any wrongdoing toward your wife in any way. If you are reassured by her testimony and that she is truthful in that, then separate from the woman. We ask Allah to replace her with something better for you if the separation occurs. Yes.
May Allah reward you. Your Eminence, Shaykh! Is there no room for the scheming of women? Do not hold us to this in this matter, is there no room for it?
Answer: There is no doubt, their scheming is great. For this reason, I told him: I fear that there is something between her and her. For this reason, it occurred to her to say this; because she had remained silent for a long time and did not claim the breastfeeding.
The presenter: Three children, O Shaykh!
The Shaykh: So I fear that something occurred to her because the woman contradicted her in something, or defied her in something, so she wanted to scheme against her with this claim and this testimony.
So if there is doubt in the justice of this testimony or in the truthfulness of this testimony, then the son is not obligated to obey his mother in that. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you.
So you advise this husband to be completely certain, and not to proceed to separate from his wife and children except after correct certainty based on sound foundations.
The Shaykh: Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you.
