What is meant by the hypocrites in: {Indeed, the hypocrites are in the lowest depths of the Fire}?
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
You ask His Eminence the Shaykh and say: Allah the Exalted said in His noble Book: [Al-Nisa: 145]. What is meant by the hypocrites and hypocrisy in this noble verse, and I hope you would be kind enough to clarify the meaning?
Answer: What is meant by the hypocrites: they are those who display Islam outwardly while they are not upon Islam. They claim to be Muslims, but inwardly they disbelieve in Allah and lie about His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). These are the hypocrites. They are called hypocrites because they displayed Islam outwardly and concealed disbelief inwardly. They are mentioned in the saying of the Mighty and Majestic: [Al-Baqarah: 8] [Al-Baqarah: 9] [Al-Baqarah: 10], meaning: doubt and suspicion. [Al-Baqarah: 10]. These are the verses from the beginning of Surat al-Baqarah. They are these people. They are also mentioned in the saying of the Exalted and Majestic: [Al-Nisa: 142], meaning: they have no faith: [Al-Nisa: 142-143]. The meaning is that they waver between the disbelievers and the Muslims. Sometimes they are with the disbelievers if the disbelievers prevail and win, and sometimes they are with the believers if the believers prevail and win. So they have no steadfastness, no straight religion, and no firm faith. Rather, they are wavering between disbelief and faith, and between the disbelievers and the Muslims. They are mentioned in the saying of the Exalted and Majestic: [At-Tawbah: 54] [At-Tawbah: 55]. These are the hypocrites. We ask Allah for well-being and safety.
O Allah, amen. His Eminence the Shaykh says that she has many personal questions and hopes to call you by phone, but she does not know the phone number. Can you please tell her?
The Shaykh: Yes, yes, the phone is at the house: (4354444). This is the house phone. Between Maghrib and Isha, or from 2:30 in the afternoon to 3:00, or on Thursday mornings from 10:00 to noon, or half an hour or two-thirds of an hour after the Friday prayer until 3:00. All these are suitable times. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you.
Indeed, the hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of the Fire

And of the people are some who say, "We believe in Allah and the Last Day," but they are not believers.
They [think to] deceive Allah and those who believe, but they deceive not except themselves and perceive [it] not.
In their hearts is disease
فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ مَرَضٌso Allah has increased their disease; and for them is a painful punishment because they [habitually] used to lie.
Indeed, the hypocrites [think to] deceive Allah, but He is deceiving them. And when they stand for prayer, they stand lazily, showing [themselves to] the people
إِنَّ الْمُنَافِقِينَ يُخَادِعُونَ اللَّهَ وَهُوَ خَادِعُهُمْ وَإِذَا قَامُوا إِلَى الصَّلاةِ قَامُوا كُسَالَى يُرَاءُونَ النَّاسَshowing [themselves to] the people and not remembering Allah except a little, (143) Wavering between them, [belonging] neither to the believers nor to the disbelievers.
And what prevents their expenditures from being accepted from them but that they have disbelieved in Allah and in His Messenger and that they come not to prayer except while they are lazy and that they do not spend except while they are unwilling.
So let not their wealth or their children impress you. Allah only intends to punish them through them in worldly life and that their souls should depart [at death] while they are disbelievers.
O Allah, amen.
