How to Deal with the People of Innovation

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A message was received for the program from the listener Ahmad al-Babtain from Dammam. In his first question, he says: What do you advise us regarding how to deal with the innovators whom we see, speak with, and interact with almost every day?

Answer:
It is obligatory to boycott them for their religious innovation if they display it. The obligation is to boycott them after advising and guiding them, for a Muslim advises his brother and warns him of the religious innovations and apparent sins that Allah has forbidden him. If he repents, well and good; otherwise, he deserves to be boycotted and not dealt with, in the hope that he will repent, that he will regret, and that he will return to the truth. However, if boycotting leads to consequences that are not to be commended, then he should be left alone if leaving him alone is better for the religion, increases good, and is closer to success. In that case, he should not be boycotted; rather, he should continue to advise him and warn him against falsehood, without boycotting him, in the hope that Allah will guide him because of that.
The believer is like a doctor: if he sees that a treatment is beneficial, he applies it; and if he sees that it is not beneficial, he leaves it. Boycotting is a form of treatment. If boycotting brings about good and is beneficial, then he should boycott, for that is a form of treatment, in the hope that he will repent and that he will turn back from the error when he sees that his brothers are boycotting him.
As for when boycotting causes more evil, and an increase in the people of evil and their cooperation, then he should not boycott. Instead, he should persist in advising and guiding, and in showing his dislike for what they do. He should not indicate to them his agreement with their falsehood, but he should continue in advising and guiding.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
