The Ruling on Palm Reading, Cup Reading, and Pebble Casting

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
One of the female listeners sent a somewhat lengthy message, which ended with her signing as "a servant of the Merciful." The summary of the message is a question about what is called palm reading, whether done seriously or in jest?

Answer:
This is invalid and is a form of fortune-telling. It is not permissible to engage in palm reading, cup reading, or the like, nor in pebble casting or divination. All of this is misguidance and a claim to knowledge of the unseen. If one claims to know the unseen through these means, he becomes a disbeliever by major shirk, may Allah protect us from that. For only Allah knows the unseen. It is not known through pebble casting, palm reading, cup reading, or any other practice engaged in by sorcerers.
Therefore, knowledge of the unseen belongs to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) . Whoever claims that through palm reading, pebble casting, finger counting, or any other means, he knows the unseen, all of this is disbelief in Allah (Mighty and Majestic). And Allah the Exalted says:
Say, "None in the heavens and earth knows the unseen except Allahقُلْ لا يَعْلَمُ مَنْ فِي السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ الْغَيْبَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ
[Surah al-Naml: 65]. And He (Exalted and Majestic is He) says in His great Book to His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
I do not tell you that I have the depositories [containing the provision] of Allah or that I know the unseenقُلْ لا أَقُولُ لَكُمْ عِندِي خَزَائِنُ اللَّهِ وَلا أَعْلَمُ الْغَيْبَ
[Surah al-An'am: 50]. So whoever claims to know the unseen through palm work, pebble work, divination, or any of these calculations, it is all invalid, and it is all disbelief and misguidance. We ask Allah for safety. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
