The ruling on praying in a mosque where only the 'Asr and Maghrib prayers are performed

Question:
I live near a small mosque where the people gather for the obligatory 'Asr and Maghrib prayers, and after that, only two or three people gather there. Is it permissible for me to go to another mosque that has large congregations, and to leave off the adhan and iqamah in this small mosque?

Answer:
The most likely ruling—Allah knows best—is that you remain in the mosque; because this is one of the means of gathering people, praying in the mosque, and not neglecting it, if you are the one who calls to prayer; so you call to prayer in it, and you give the second call with whoever is present with the imam, and praise be to Allah, unless the mosques with large congregations are numerous, and there is no need for this mosque, in which case there is no harm in closing it, and you pray in the mosques around it that have large congregations; because this mosque, in that case, has no place. So you must consult the endowments authority and the scholars in your country; so that they look into the matter. Yes.
