Question:
The first message in this episode is one that reached the program from Dammam, sent by the listener Abdulrahman al-Dawsari. The brother Abdulrahman asks and says in his first question: What is the meaning of the saying of the Truth, (Blessed and Exalted is He): [Al-Mu’minun:3]?
Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance. As for what follows.
Allah, (Exalted and Majestic is He), said in His great Book, describing His believing servants:[Al-Mu'minun 23:1] Those who are humble in their prayers, and those who turn away from useless talk [Al-Mu’minun:1-3]. The scholars interpreted (useless talk) as three things:
The first is shirk (associating partners with Allah); because it is false and useless, it must be rejected and one must guard against it.
The second is sins; because they are also false, one must guard against them.
The third is anything that has no benefit and no good in it; that is from useless talk, and the believer avoids it, and so does the believing woman.
All these interpretations are correct, for the believers avoid all types of shirk (associating partners with Allah), and they avoid sins and guard against them. They also avoid anything that has no benefit or good, because it occupies them with what is more important. Thus, the believer should be cautious of all types of shirk, and of all the sins that Allah has forbidden, and also cautious of what occupies him with things that have no benefit, whether in speech or action. Yes.
