Treating Whispers and Forgetfulness in Prayer
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
She has a second question, stating that she is very forgetful, and when she is in prayer she forgets the verses or mixes them up. What must she do? Does she have to repeat the prayer?
Answer:
She must seek refuge in Allah from Satan. She must be diligent, keeping her heart present before Allah when she enters prayer. She should gather her heart for Allah, knowing that she is before Allah and that it is obligatory for her to keep her heart present before Him. Allah the Exalted says:[Al-Mu'minun 23:1] the ones who are humble in their prayers [Al-Mu'minun:1-2]. She must also beware of Satan.
When the whispers come, she should spit to her left three times and say: "I seek refuge in Allah from Satan." Even in prayer, she should turn her face slightly to the left and say: "I seek refuge in Allah from Satan," three times, spitting. This is a remedy by which Allah removes the evil of Satan. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) advised some of the Companions to do this. So she should seek refuge in Allah, continue her prayer, and not repeat her prayer or her ablution. She should recite whatever verses are easy for her—praise be to Allah—after al-Fatihah.
The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
