The Ruling on Shaking Hands After Leaving the Prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is it permissible for the worshippers to shake hands with one another after the prayer?

Answer:
If he did not shake hands with him first, it is recommended for him to shake hands with him once he has finished the prescribed dhikr; he shakes hands with his brother. However, if the handshake took place when they met in the row before the prayer, that is sufficient, and praise be to Allah; because shaking hands is a recommended practice (sunnah) upon meeting, and the greeting of peace is a recommended practice (sunnah) upon meeting. So if he shook hands with him when he met him in the row, or after the voluntary prayer before the obligatory prayer, that is sufficient.
And if he shakes hands with him after the obligatory prayer, once he has finished the dhikr, all of this is permissible, as a means of fostering familiarity, fulfilling the recommended practice (sunnah), and building affection. But one should not rush to do so as soon as he says the closing salam, as some people do. No, it is after the dhikr, after he has finished the prescribed dhikr; he greets his brother on his right and left, asking how he is, as a means of building affection and cooperation. Because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to shake hands with the Companions, and it was reported from him (peace and blessings be upon him):
When two Muslims meet and shake hands, their previous sins are forgiven.إن المسلمين إذا تلاقيا وتصافحا؛ غفر لهما ما تقدم من ذنوبهما
.
So the recommended practice (sunnah) upon meeting is to shake hands. And it is established from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said:
The Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to shake hands when they met, and embrace when they returned from a journey.كان أصحاب النبي ﷺ إذا تلاقوا تصافحوا، وإذا قدموا من سفر تعانقوا
And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to, when his daughter Fatimah came to him, stand up to her, shake hands with her, kiss her, and seat her in his place. And when he came to her, she would stand up to him, shake hands with him, kiss him, and seat him in her place.
.
The point is: that spreading the greeting of peace, shaking hands upon meeting, and showing a cheerful face to your brother, all of this is among the causes of affection and love. But do not make this happen as soon as you say the salam; rather, after you have finished the salam and the prescribed dhikr; you say the salam, and you shake hands with him if you did not shake hands with him before that. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
