Ruling on Making Teeth from Gold and Ruling on Filing Teeth

Question:
She has a long question as well, which I have summarized in the following phrases: She asks Your Eminence, the Shaykh—if you would be so kind—about the ruling on gold teeth and simple filing of a woman's teeth?

Answer:
Gold teeth are permissible, but filing teeth is not permissible. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited filing teeth for the sake of beauty. However, if it is to repair a tooth due to a disease in it, or to cover it with gold, or for other medical treatments, there is no harm.
As for doing it for the sake of beauty and adornment, this is not permissible. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) However, if it is filing a tooth and working to remove any crookedness, excess, protrusion, or recession in it, there is no harm. This is not in the category of filing teeth for beauty; rather, it is in the category of treating the defect that occurred in it, or covering it, or removing any worms or decay in it. There is no blame in that.
