Ruling on Making a Ring or a Tooth from Silver

Question:
The questioner asks and says: What is the guidance of Your Eminence for one who wants to make a ring from silver, or to have a tooth made from silver? May Allah reward you with good. Is this lawful or forbidden?

Answer:
A ring made of silver is permissible; the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the Companions wore them. So a silver ring is permissible for men and women. As for having a tooth made from silver, or from gold, if there is a pressing need for it, there is nothing wrong with it. Otherwise, it is better to use other metals, other gems, or other materials. There are materials other than gold and silver that can be used for teeth and are sufficient in place of gold and silver. However, if there is a pressing need for gold or silver, there is no blame on the man. As for the woman, there is nothing wrong with it, all the more so if there is a pressing need for it. Yes.
