What are the causes of khushu' in prayer?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The listener, Sirhan Salim Muhammad, a student from the Scientific Institute in Najran, sent a question asking: What are the causes of khushu' in prayer?

Answer:
The causes of khushu' in prayer are: turning to Allah, remembering that you are before Him, that you are in His presence and that you are conversing with Him (Exalted and Majestic is He), and that this prayer is the greatest of acts of worship and the most important after tawhid (the oneness of Allah). If you remember these matters, your heart will become humble, as Allah the Exalted said:
Certainly will the believers have succeeded:قَدْ أَفْلَحَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ ۝
[Al-Mu'minun 23:1]
THEY WHO ARE HUMBLE IN THEIR PRAYERS [Al-Mu'minun:1-2]. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When one of you stands to pray, he is conversing with his Lord, so let him not touch pebbles, for mercy is facing him.إذا قام أحدكم يصلي فإنه يناجي ربه فلا يمس الحصى فإن الرحمة تواجهه
.
The point is that a person is before his Lord in prayer, so let him keep this great matter in mind so that his heart becomes humble and his limbs become humble.
And in the other hadith:
When one of you stands to pray, he is conversing with his Lord, so let him not spit in front of him, nor to his right, but to his left under his foot.إذا قام أحدكم يصلي فإنه يناجي ربه؛ فلا يبصقن قبل وجهه، ولا عن يمينه، ولكن عن يساره تحت قدمه
.
So you, O Abdullah! are before Allah, standing before Him, conversing with Him, reading His Book, bowing and prostrating before Him. So be humble before Him (Glorified and Exalted is He), and keep in mind this greatness, that you are before the Great King, none greater than Him . And all of this is what causes your humility and your brokenness before Allah . Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
