The Ruling on Reciting Tawashihs Before the Fajr Adhan

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
With Allah’s blessing, we begin this session with a message received from the questioner: Muhammad al-Sharbas, an Egyptian working in Saudi Arabia. He asks in this question: Are tawashihs permissible before the Fajr adhan, such as saying: “O beautiful-faced one… O generous in character… O my master, O Messenger of Allah?” Please guide us in light of this question, Your Eminence the Shaykh?

Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance. As for what follows:
These tawashihs mentioned by the questioner are a religious innovation (bid'ah) and are not permissible. Rather, the recommended practice (sunnah) for the mu'adhdhin in the Fajr prayer and others is to begin by saying: Allahu Akbar. There should be no tawashihs, no specific recitation, and no specific speech before it. Rather, the adhan is independent; he begins it by saying: Allahu Akbar, and ends it with La ilaha illa Allah. There should be nothing specific before it, neither tawashihs nor anything else. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
